# 2D, 3D or real images? Choosing your style

The right visual style helps a customer understand your offer. Illustration can make a service tangible, product footage can answer a question before purchase, and a 3D view can reveal how a machine works. Start with the detail someone needs to understand before deciding. Then choose the images that explain it.

## When 2D animation is useful

Illustrated shapes and characters can make roles, stages, and relationships easy to follow. Two visual lanes may be enough to explain a handoff between a client and a service provider. The important work is selecting the information and maintaining clear labels.

A 2D drawing can also explain a product. If the viewer must identify a particular component, the drawing still needs to depict it accurately. A consistent art style is not a substitute for the correct part relationships.

## When a spatial view matters

3D animation can help explain internal structures, spatial movement, or relationships between assemblies. It needs suitable source assets and appropriate technical review. Ask what modeling and technical review are included before choosing 3D.

Use the extra dimension when it answers a real question. If a simple diagram explains the relationship completely, additional visual complexity may distract. If the motion of a component is the point, a static icon may leave the explanation incomplete.

## When real product views are better

Approved photos and current software screens can establish what the product actually looks like. They can be combined with graphics: the real view identifies the item, while animation explains its role. Keep the distinction clear so an illustration does not become apparent proof of an unsupported feature.

## Compare one scene before choosing a whole style

Look for examples that explain a subject like yours. If a proposal includes characters, ask what they help people understand. A simple diagram may be all the scene needs.

Sketch the most important scene in two approaches. Ask an unfamiliar viewer which version makes the meaning clearer and what remains unanswered. Use that feedback to select the direction.
