# Explain the position and how people can get involved

An advocacy film should help people understand the issue and the organization's position. Choose a specific concern, make the sources easy to find and explain the real ways someone can learn more or participate.

## Separate the evidence from the position

Begin with the specific concern, identify the organization's position, and connect verifiable statements to accessible sources. Then show how interested viewers can learn more or attend an open event. A fictional person in an illustration should not be presented as an actual supporter or witness.

## Before writing the script

Bring the documented sources, approved positions and accurate information about how people can take part.

Check which terms your audience already knows and who will update the film when the program or process changes. Use clearly fictional people and records in examples.

## Check what people take away

Keep it beside the underlying sources. Ask viewers which position the organization holds and which factual statements support the explanation. If those become muddled, revise the words and pictures. Offer a transparent route to participate, without invented evidence or misleading suggestions about who supports the organization.
