# Help families take the first step toward home care

Families considering help at home need to know whom to speak with and how their needs will be discussed. Walk through that first conversation calmly, keeping home-care and home-health services distinct according to what you actually provide.

## Begin with a conversation about needs

Show first contact, a needs conversation, and the next steps agreed together. Use a neutral fictional family situation rather than an invented success story. Do not imply that the illustrated service is automatically available, funded, or appropriate for every person. Make the contact path and responsibilities easy to follow.

## Gather and review the source material

Bring the agreed service description, intake steps and contact roles for the provider shown.

Have the responsible specialist review both wording and imagery. Keep personal data out of the scenes and link to the complete information for the intended audience.

## Check the practical takeaway

Put it near the first-inquiry information. Ask what's been established and what still needs discussion. If the video looks like a confirmed service commitment, revise the wording. Keep room for the family's circumstances and the provider's actual review of the services that may be appropriate.

## Example: in-home care for a parent, explained

Our Paper style example for GoldLeaf Homecare Network, an in-home care agency in the San Francisco Bay Area: every afternoon a mother puts on her coat for a job she retired from years ago. A caregiver meets her with empathy instead of correcting her. Then the video shows how the agency checks, trains and matches its caregivers, and how to book a free consultation.

Example video for a real business. The care approach, background checks and services are GoldLeaf’s own; the video is not medical advice.
